Gillian Smellie provides stylish, sustainable fashion that does not cost the earth. As an eco printer using only natural pigment in leaves she creates permanent prints on cloth. The business works exclusively with second hand clothing to create unique items of sustainable clothing.

Jean’s Catering is a family business that started out as a small delicatessen and has now grown into full event catering. The business has seen substantial growth and a move into new premises. Throughout their business their family valued are embedded in their service delivery.

This organisation stands as a beacon of support for self-employed and employed neurodivergent individuals and charities, both personally and in their working lives. The business has seen significant revenue growth exceeding projected financial targets whilst maintaining exceptional service and client satisfaction.

Trew Surveying was founded by Neil Trewick in 2022 and is a residential building surveying company. Based in Teesside they are now established as one of the most recognisable and reputable companies in the area gaining national recognition for their work and services. Alongside this success the business has continued to grow leading to an impressive business turnover in less than two years.

Young Entrepreneur Award

Salt & Co. is a North East brand specialising in handcrafted 925 sterling silver jewellery. Founded by British designer and silversmith, Martha Gothorp. Inspired by Northumberland’s coastline, Martha strives to create affordable keepsake jewellery, made to last. Salt & Co. has grown from strength to strength since launching, originally starting as an online brand and now with several North East stockists and a beautiful store nestled right on the coastline in Northumberland.

Integrity Energy Solutions Limited (IES) is an accredited electrical contractor with a dedicated focus on the green, sustainable and renewable energy sectors. Founded by Ben Russell, IES emerged from a collective passion for sustainability and expertise in the construction industry. The company's inception was driven by the recognition of a growing demand for renewable energy solutions and environmental conservation efforts.

Franchise Business Award

Newcastle

Razzamataz Newcastle is dedicated to nurturing children and young people from all walks of life within a supportive environment. Philip McCready had been collecting military items for over thirty years when he decided to turn it into a business in 2019. The business has quickly grown with two industrial units, a large retail store in Durham, links with military charities and numerous e-commerce websites. The business works closely with cadet forces providing clothing and kit alongside their military charitable work.

International Newcastle CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise working with local, regional, national and international partners to deliver ‘Our Newcastle Our World’, a partnership approach to raise aspirations and widen opportunities for children, young people and disadvantaged groups, develop skills for the future workforce and promote intercultural awareness, inclusion and tolerance and share positive opportunities for their diverse communities.

Paul Cobb launched The Green Energy Advice Bureau in 2015. Their 80-strong team works with businesses including Halford Group, NHS trusts, schools, charities, and SMEs across the UK to find the most suitable energy supplier at the right price. They use a combination of expertise and technology supported by policies and initiatives to go above and beyond for their customers.
